What is the Michi Method?
The Michi Method mixes Pokémon cards with art inserts, open pockets, and multi-pocket images. Instead of filling every slot in order, you design the whole page around one idea.
Collector @peeplop is commonly credited with popularizing the method.
Choose one page idea
Start with the card you most want to show, then give the page a simple rule:
- one Pokémon across different places or seasons
- cards by the same illustrator
- a trainer with their partners
- one color moving across the page
Pull five to ten possible cards. Look for shared colors, backgrounds, eye lines, or movement. The best anchor is the card that explains the page, not necessarily the rarest one.
Place the cards before adding art
- Try the anchor in the center, a corner, and along one side.
- Add two cards that support it.
- Fill only the pockets that make the idea clearer.
- Decide whether facing pages are one scene or two separate pages.
- Add art to the gaps that are left.
This keeps the art from deciding the layout too early.

Browse Michi Art to find artwork with creator, source, and reuse details attached. Open an artwork to see public binders using that exact image. You can save it or choose Start a binder with this art, then pick its pocket inside the editor.
Card Binder Ideas currently helps you plan the page and art placement. It does not make print-ready inserts yet, so test the physical size and crop before putting anything into your binder.
Build the first version
Use the starter above if you already know the cards you want. Add the anchor first, arrange the supporting cards, then place art.
Try one of these for the first page:
- a single Pokémon with cameos from other cards
- an illustrator page ordered by color
- a trainer surrounded by partners and places
- a light-to-dark color progression
Publish the layout when you want feedback or examples to remix. It does not need to match the physical binder yet.
