How to organize Pokemon cards in a binder
Pick the collection rule, count the cards, then choose an order that still works when something new gets added.
What are you organizing?
A set checklist
Use set number. Decide whether reverse holos, secret cards, promos, and stamped variants count before choosing the binder size.
One Pokemon or artist
Use release order or one card per artwork. Keep the last page open for future cards.
Visual pages
Group cards by color, setting, artist, or story. Treat each page or spread as one finished idea.

How many pages do you need?
Divide the card count by the pockets on each page, then round up. Count variants and planned gaps before doing the math.
What order should the cards follow?
- Set number
- Best for a numbered set or master set. Every missing pocket has one clear answer.
- Pokedex or release order
- Works for one Pokemon, an artist, a region, or a collection that grows across new sets.
- Color, scene, or story
- Best for full-art and Michi Method pages. Finish one page at a time instead of leaving checklist gaps.
Where should reverse holos go?
Side by side
Place each regular card beside its reverse holo. The comparison is easy to read and fits naturally in twelve-pocket pages.
Separate runs
Finish the numbered cards first, then repeat the checklist with reverse holos. This keeps the main set cleaner.
Keep promos, stamped cards, and late additions after the main run unless they have an exact place in your checklist.
Leave room without overfilling
- Use clean sleeves that fit the pocket without forcing the card.
- Do not double-stack cards unless the binder and pocket are made for it.
- Store the binder upright in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Add missing cards to the wishlist so intentional gaps stay clear.
